We offer plastic tubes in line with the principles of the circular economy and in compliance with EU Regulation 2025/40, known as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), according to which, by 2030, all packaging placed on the market must be recyclable and contain a minimum percentage of post-consumer recycled material, which in the specific case of plastic tubes is set at 35%.

Design for Recycling – Guidelines

Plastic tubes materials are fully recyclable  if certain design for recycling criteria are fullfilled.

The main recommendations for material recycling compatibility are as follows:

  • Mono-material design: body, shoulder, and cap in PE.
  • PE tubes with screw caps in PP. In this case the end consumer can unscrew the caps so that recycling may not be affected.
  • Multilayer Coex tubes with Evoh barrier material content that doesn’t exceed 6% of the total tube material weight.
  • A density with HDPE prevalence respect to LDPE/LLDPE, for example 80% HDPE-20% LLDPE.
  • Light colour masterbatches not hindering NIR detection.
  • Light-colour printing inks following EuPIA Policy, not hindering NIR detection.
  • To print the tubes preferably with a minimized surface coverage.
  • Alu seals and sleeve because removed by end consumer before use.
  • Metallization of caps allowed, if near-infrared (NIR) detection is not affected.
